Cheryl Nemazie

Director of Communications & Programming

Cheryl first encountered The NEO Fund in Managua’s La Chureca in 2010 while documenting the work of a medical team in Nicaragua. She soon joined the organization to strengthen communications and help capture its growth from serving a small number of families in the dump community to reaching neighborhoods across Managua and beyond.

Alongside a career in hospitality as an art director, designer, and stylist, Cheryl developed her photography through work with NGOs and nonprofit organizations around the world. Her early exposure to microfinance came in a village north of Kathmandu while shooting for Médecins du Monde, where she saw how access to capital could expand opportunity for women. Not long afterward, a visit to Managua connected her with Ron and the early NEO team just as the pilot microfinance program was beginning. Since then, she has helped document, shape, and support the program’s growth in Nicaragua as well as its development in India and Guatemala.
